Hollywood Pictures Backlot

At the Hollywood Pictures Backlot, the Golden Age of Hollywood beckons you to bask in the magic of Disney movies. Stumble upon movie props and facades as you get caught up in the behind-the-scenes buzz of a studio backlot. While you might not get discovered, you're sure to find cinematic fun!

Attractions

Welcome to a haunted hotel and enter its cursed elevator for the ride of your life at The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. For something a little tamer, take a scare-raising ride through Monstropolis on Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue. Or learn how to draw a Disney character at the Animation Academy. Discover the new eye-popping technology spawned from Henson mayhem at Muppet*Vision 3D. Or visit the Sorcerer's Workshop inside the Disney Animation building and explore the development of character appearance, voice and personality through cool interactive attractions!

Entertainment

But that's just the beginning. Revel in the magic of live theater and experience thrills from beyond the reality. Don't miss entertainment such as the Broadway-style show, Disney's Aladdin - A Musical Spectacular, which gleams onstage at the Hyperion Theater. Sing and dance along in the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse at Disney Junior - Live on Stage! You can also chill with Crush, the righteous surfer turtle from the Disney•Pixar film, Finding Nemo, for a live conversation about life, the sea and everything!

Dining

Grab a quick bite between scenes at places like Award Weiners — "Winner of The Best Hot Dog in a Supporting Roll"! Or stop by Schmoozies, a stand that offers creamy smoothies with blended yogurt and fruit. Delicious and refreshing!

Shopping

Finding the perfect souvenir won't require a major script rewrite to your backlot visit. If you draw pleasure from artwork, then select an animation cell at Off the Page, where figurines and art books figure prominently. Or stop by the Studio Store for a bit of Muppet mania including apparel and plush toys. And if kitsch is more your thing, slip on those oversized sunglasses and go to the Gone Hollywood boutique. It's where all "the beautiful people" are picking up apparel, costumes, cosmetics and more!

Brush with Fame

Hollywood past and present converge here at the Hollywood Pictures Backlot, where the Golden Age meets modern movie-making with whimsy in the mix. The past century of filmmaking is represented here with the soundstages, facades and sets found down the palm-lined Boulevard. The land also celebrates television history, such as Rod Serling's famous CBS series The Twilight Zone, as well as The Muppet Show.

Architecture

The celebration of cinema begins at the studio gate with an elaborate tribute to one of the most famous sets ever built during the silent film era: the Babylon scene in D.W. Griffith's 1917 film, Intolerance. Inside the land, the architecture includes an exciting mix of Spanish baroque and art deco styles. The mood moves from zany Muppets and business-as-usual on the backlot to the creepy heights of the eerie Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. It's a fascinating tribute to entertainment of yesterday and today!
