Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough

Wander the winding passageways of iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle, where the timeless tale of Princess Aurora and the evil Maleficent comes to life.

Stunning special effects and dynamic 3-dimensional displays inspired by the original Eyvind Earle artwork from the film create an air of enchantment. Step into the pages of this classic fairy tale, climb the stairs and explore the Castle's dimly lit chambers, or watch the tale unfold on screen in high-definition CGI from a lavishly themed room on the ground floor.

Sleeping Beauty's Winter Castle

With snow-capped turrets, sparkling icicles and shimmering lights, the original Disney theme park castle is a crystallized citadel to behold during Holidays at the Disneyland Resort. For generations families have gathered below the steeples of Sleeping Beauty's Winter Castle to bask in its Holiday wonder.

History

Sleeping Beauty Castle opened on July 17, 1955. The castle's design was based on that of Neuschwanstein, a real Bavarian castle. Guests could not actually walk through the castle until 1957. The famed drawbridge has only been used twice — once at the opening of the park in 1955 and again in 1983 at the rededication of Fantasyland.
