Tips & Fun Facts

The Jungle Cruise was originally envisioned to include real wild animals. When Walt discovered that many of these animals were nocturnal, he turned to creating mechanical creatures.

The first version of the Jungle Cruise was very serious, based on Walt Disney's True Life Adventure Series. It wasn't until a few years later that the humorous vignettes were added.

Jungle Cruise

A 1955 Original
Jungle Cruise
Enter a Colonial outpost in a remote section of jungle, where seasoned Guides steer you and your fellow adventurers upriver. Rely on the steady hand and wit of your riverboat Skipper as he navigates the treacherous perils you encounter along this exciting jungle cruise. Forge rivers, span continents as you wend your way through:
  • The Southeast Asian Irrawady River, where you happen upon an ancient shrine
  • The African Nile River, where you must brave the hippopotamus-filled waters
  • The South American Amazon River, where you can float surrounded by rain forests
  • The Indian Ganghes River, where the rich culture meets the shore
  • And the River Home, the most dangerous of all, where you "return to civilization"
