Casual Dining, Table Service
Southern gentlemen and belles can still eat well when time is scarce at this quick-service venue that’s long on charm. Make your selections inside then emerge to sit a spell under verdant hanging ferns and shady awnings sequestered by ornate wrought-iron gates. Dine with real plates and flatware and delight in the sounds of live Dixieland jazz as you watch the Mark Twain Riverboat paddle down the Rivers of America.Cajun and Creole Classics
Some of the same hearty house specialties are served for lunch and dinner: Cajun meatloaf, red beans and rice with Andouille sausage, and our signature southern-style citrus half chicken with smashed potatoes and citrus au jus. Among our dinner-only items are panko-crusted red snapper and Creole shrimp pasta with smoked Gouda Creole mustard sauce.
Lighter lunch-appropriate choices include the vegetarian N’Awlins salad, Royal Street chicken Caesar, marinated shrimp po’ boy and Market French dip sandwich with house-made Cajun chips. French Market soups served in sourdough boules are a meal in themselves! Choose from slow-roasted Louisiana beef stew and creamy corn chowder with black-eyed pea maque choux. A tempting assortment of desserts and a kids’ menu are also offered.
All menu items are subject to change without notice. The Mint Julep Bar
Within our lovely garden patio, you’ll find the Mint Julep Bar, a quick-service window where you can order nonalcoholic versions of this refreshing mint drink. Hot, fresh Mickey-shaped beignets are another must-try and pair perfectly with a latte, cappuccino or other specialty coffee drink, also served here. Or beat the southern heat with an iced caffè mocha or cold fountain drink.
Listen to the swingin’ sounds of the Royal Street Bachelors and celebrate one of New Orleans Square’s oldest traditions. Though the lineup has changed slightly over the years, this talented jazz trio has been a mainstay of New Orleans Square ever since the land first opened in 1966.
Watch Herb Gordy and the boys take the patio stage at the French Market restaurant, where they perform 15-minute sets throughout the day. (Check the Times Guide for show times). With the smooth jazz and blues grooves of the Royal Street Bachelors and good ol’ southern cooking, the illusion you’re in the Big Easy is complete!
