Types of Services

The Disneyland Resort offers a variety of services to help Guests with hearing disabilities enjoy the resort.

Services include:

  • Handheld Captioning
  • Video Captioning

  • For Disneyland Resort Hotel Guests, Hotel Room Amenities

Assistive Listening Systems

Portable captioning systems that use the Disney Handheld Device—which amplify sound through headphones or induction loop—are recommended for Guests with mild to moderate hearing loss.

Disney Handheld Devices are available through Guest Relations and require a $25.00 refundable deposit. You must return the device on the same day for a refund.

Sign Language Interpretation

The Disneyland Resort provides Sign Language interpretation for our Guests at specific live theme park shows on a rotating basis as follows:

For a list of Sign Language interpreted performances, please download the current schedule or request information via email at dlraccessibilityservices@disney.com. You may also call (714) 781-4636 (select option 1, and then option 0) for further details. Guests under age 18 must have parent or guardian permission to call.

You may pick up a schedule of Sign Language interpreted performances at any Disneyland Resort Guest Relations locations.

Please note that the schedule is released on the first of the month.

Special Requests for Interpretation
Sign Language interpretation can be scheduled in advance on days where sign language schedule is not normally offered, with at least 14 days advance notice. Please contact us via email at dlraccessibilityservices@disney.com and a member of our team will work to accommodate your request.

Text Typewriter Telephones

Pay phones marked with a Text Typewriter (TTY) symbol are available in the Downtown Disney District and by request in select rooms at the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort. All Disneyland Resort telephones can be amplified with the "#" key or by using a separate volume button on the phone.

Video Captioning

Caption-ready monitors are available in the preshow area at select attractions. These monitors are designated by a "CC" and can only be activated by remote control. Please see a Cast Member at the attraction for assistance.

Written Aids

Packets containing attraction dialogue and narration, flashlight, pencil and paper are available for many attractions and shows. Please inquire about availability prior to experiencing an attraction or show. A complete listing of available written aids is available at the Guest Information Locations, located in each park.

Service Animals

Trained service animals are welcome in most locations throughout the Disneyland Resort. Guests who use service animals must retain control of their animals at all times and should keep them on a leash or harness while visiting.
