It’s easy to see why the Original 1762 garners top billing after just one bite of the tender Angus roast beef, sharp cheddar cheese and creamy horseradish sauce. The Earl's Club and The Full Montagu® (stuffed with turkey and roast beef) both pay homage to the Earl himself, while newer options like chipotle chicken avocado, holiday turkey and Caprese sandwiches rise amongst the ranks as fan favourites.

In 1762, the world’s first fast food was named after its creator, John Montagu—a noted explorer, British naval commander and the 4th Earl of Sandwich. Lore has it that his day-into-night love of gambling led Montagu to put meat between 2 slices of bread to satisfy his need for nourishment without stepping away from the card table. This ingenious idea quickly caught on as savvy cohorts began requesting “the same as Sandwich!” The rest, as they say, is history.

Some 250 years later, his descendants—the current 11th Earl and the Sandwich family—continue a proud family tradition of crafting quality sandwiches with the freshest ingredients available. Such dedication to perfecting their namesake makes it easy for anyone, earl or otherwise, to enjoy great meals on the go!

There's good news for Earl of Sandwich fans. Plans are in the works for a new 2-storey location in the Downtown Disney District, with a quick-service Earl of Sandwich shop on the ground level and Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby, an all-new table-service gastropub upstairs designed as an homage to the '60s "British Invasion" U.K. pop and rock bands.

In the meantime, you can visit Earl of Sandwich and the temporary Earl of Sandwich pop-up location near Star Wars Trading Post. Here you can savour sandwiches such as The Original 1762, The Full Montagu and The Holiday Turkey, as well as handcrafted wraps and salads. The pop-up location will remain open when the original venue closes during construction of the new 2-storey Earl of Sandwich.
