As you are whisked around the Resort for an approximate 13-minute ride, sit back and enjoy the aerial views. You’ll pass through Fantasyland and Tomorrowland in Disneyland Park and Grizzly Peak, Buena Vista Street and Hollywood Land in Disney California Adventure Park. The 2.5 mile route also parallels Harbor Boulevard and travels over the Disneyland Main Entrance and Entrance Plaza, taking you above and beyond the park scenery.
Where You'll Find the Disneyland Monorail Board at the Tomorrowland station or the Downtown Disney District. The Disneyland Monorail is the only Disneyland Park attraction that can be boarded outside of the Park.

The Disneyland Monorail is comprised of the Red, Blue and Orange Mark VII trains. Computer monitored, the fleet is operated and controlled at a speed of approximately 30 mph by onboard pilots. And because the Disneyland Monorail uses a 600-volt DC power source, the trains do not emit exhaust or pollutants. Streaks of Light
Thanks to an innovative painting technique developed by the Disney Imagineers, the surface of the trains shimmers with visual electricity. Watch closely and you’ll see the colors shift with a simple brush of light—from red to crimson, from blue to teal and from orange to a golden sunburst. It's not just a stroke of technological innovation; it's a work of art!
A Blast from the Past

The Disneyland Monorail was the first transportation system of its kind in America. It was based on a system built by the ALWEG company and discovered by Walt Disney while traveling in Germany. The monorail first appeared in Disneyland Park in 1959 with its "Googie" architecture, a space age look that was enormously popular during the 1950s.
The current version of the Disneyland Monorail combines the sleek styling of the 1959 classic with new technologies and subtle design changes, bringing a retro-futuristic look and contemporary feel to the timeless Disneyland icon.
The Disneyland Monorail celebrated its 50th anniversary on June 14, 2009.
In order to accommodate our magical fireworks shows, Disneyland Monorail will be closed intermittently on evenings with scheduled performances.
